Broadway In The Park Gives Back

community_serviceIt's official folks! Today marks the start of our brand new community service program, "Broadway In The Park Gives Back," where we donate an hour of community service to the South Bay for every ticket sold.

How does it work? When someone buys a ticket to our summer festival, our awesome volunteer crew will donate an hour of service back to a local cause. From reading to seniors to picking up litter on the roadside, it's our way of giving back to the community that supports us. Our goal is to donate 500 hours of service and renew the American spirit of volunteerism.

You can make a difference! There are two easy ways to give back to our South Bay community. Check it out:

Buy a ticket and 'order' an hour of service

Volunteer and 'cash in' an hour of service

BITP Gala A Huge Success

Our first-ever fundraising gala, "Music By Moonlight," was a huge success! Over 80 people arrived at the Methodist Church to enjoy the festivities. Gourmet food by Ralph Thomas, Chef Hannes, and Cooke's Market was a big hit with the guests and our larger-than-life silent auction drew many bids throughout the evening.

The program went off without a hitch! City Councilmen Carl Jacobson and Don Brann were on hand to officially welcome Broadway In The Park to El Segundo. Afterward, talented local performers brought beautiful music to the stage as we presented our vision for the summer's main event.

All in all, our guests had a magical evening and we're happy to announce that we beat our fundraising goal by seven dollars - for a total of $5,007 raised that night!

"Li'l Abner" lands at Kentwood Players

Westchester's Kentwood Players presents the fun-loving musical "Li'l Abner." Based on Al Capp’s politically and socially satirical comic strip, the story centers on Dogpatch’s Sadie Hawkins’ Day Race, the annual opportunity for Daisy Mae to once again attempt to snag Li’l Abner for her husband. But the race gets interrupted by Washington D.C. bureaucrats who announce that Dogpatch has been determined to be the most unnecessary town in the USA, and thus has been selected as the site for testing the atomic bomb. Told they can only avoid evacuation and annihilation by demonstrating that the town has some redeeming value, Mammy Yokum throws her secret Yokumberry tonic into the mix, the plot thickens, and the madCapp ride takes off!

"Li'l Abner" is directed by Victoria Miller and plays through April 17th. Tickets are on sale now at the box office and online.
